Eid el fitr – the feast that marks the end of Ramadan


Eid el fitr or 3eed el fetr which means “the end of fasting” (Eid = festivity and fitr = breaking)  is the feast after Ramadan, the islamic holy month of fasting. It is an important feast for all muslims over the world, during three days they start the festivity with prayers, breakfast, visiting relatives, eating salted fish, buying new clothes.  They Eid also comes celebrate with others in the streets like Egyptians, going at cinema or theater, visiting museums etc.

A culinary specialty of this feast is “ka7k”, biscuits field with nuts and cover with sugar and a particularly traditions is “el 3ideaya” receiving money from relatives as gift.
